I played with OurPaint and it was surprised how slow it was. I somehow expected to be at least faster then GIMP from an new GPU-based painting program. But perhaps my GPU is just to slow. And the other thing is this custom made UI reminds me to the old DOS/Amiga time, where every program had its one UI like e.g. Autodesk Animator:
