3.8.0 released?

Was looking for a way to run git builds or 3.7 branch on Manjaro because I need to edit some CR3 files. Found https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/tag/release-3.8.0 which was uploaded 25 minutes ago.

Does this mean 3.8 is released?

Maybe just getting things set up for the release? Hopefully not long now.

I saw that too a week ago and assume it is like an obituary written prior to someone´s death… ready when the time comes.

It gets frozen ten days ahead of the official release date to allow packagers to build and test it. If you build yourself you can checkout the tag and build manually now. Though the help links won’t work yet.

Thanks!

Anybody knows what would be the easiest way to run a version of darktable that reads CR3 on Manjaro? There’s a git version in the AUR but it has only been there since august and has three votes… No flatpaks or appimages, right?

darktable-git from the AUR should be fine - it should build current master, which is basically the same as 3.8 at the moment).

i could publish the docs master branch to the 3.8 url for the time being if you want.

Ok go for it. Thanks.

done. happy testing.

Please be very careful not to engage in risky activity - like getting in car, or even walking out the door of your home!!! :smiley_cat:

Thanks!

Could it be used alongside the version from the community repository?

:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I don’t think so. If you want to run multiple versions I think you need to build it yourself.

I’m not the compiling kind of person. I’ll have to wait until it shows up in pacman.

Likewise I’ll wait until it’s available as a package for Ubuntu / Mint etc.
