Errr… what? Yeah, sure it does. Every phone ever made (with a camera) does that. They sound like it’s a new discovery. And they make no mention of white balance, profile or anything else.
It seems like they’re approaching the whole thing from a very technical angle, with no consideration of any photographic advances in processing.

But maybe I’m just feeling grumpy…

I dont think so.
They are comparing their algorythm against the existing ones and show that they often can get better results: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2401.02161.pdf
