Hi, I found this interesting method for enhancing face and body features in portraits.
It is for Capture One and I do have C1, but for some reason I prefer to work in DT.
How to implement the technique in DT ?
Of course I would use a combination of drawn and parametric mask, but applied to which module(s) ?
There are so many ways to do that in DT, like exposure, brightness-contrast-saturation, tone curve, RBG curve, etc.
Which one do you think has the best chances to avoid to screw up colors ?
you might try the equalizer, one of the “bottom” layers with the “biggest” structure in the L channel. should be much quicker but I am not sure it is the exact same effect
anyway, choose a tool wich works in Lab mode and only edit the L channel
I’d use a drawn and parametric mask (on Luminance and Hue) to isolate the skin then use either curves or levels. I don’t see a reason to use separate exposure instances. It might be useful if you need to adjust the opacity separately, though. If you aren’t familiar with parametric masks it should be the next thing you learn about. Lot’s of tutorials out there and they are one of darktable’s biggest strengths.
The basic adjustments and the contrast brightness saturation both have a brightness control, using parametric and drawn masks you should be able to get similar results. The basic adjustments shouldn’t mess with the colors.
