Astronomy plugin updated?

I’m back on my astronomy photography kick and I recently came across this plugin: http://registry.gimp.org/node/2352

The author says it’s been updated for 2.8 and I’ve installed the the required library but when I ./configure I get:

checking for GIMP… configure: error: Package requirements (gimp-2.0 >= 2.4.0 gimpui-2.0 >= 2.4.0) were not met:

No package ‘gimp-2.0’ found
No package ‘gimpui-2.0’ found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GIMP_CFLAGS
and GIMP_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Any idea if it’s me or is the plugin not really updated for 2.8?

Hello,

I’ve discovered this post. Interesting features in this plugin. I’m also discovering Siril, which is a quite new Linux/Windows(/MacOS?) astronomy image processing software. Maybe some of these features are already built in, but the development team is quite dynamic and you may not need many efforts to get this added in.
Yes, it wouln’t be in Gimp itself. But for astro imaging, it’s much better to process raw images, sometimes before debayering to get better results (and less artifacts).

I’m mostly looking to make star trails. I don’t actually do real astrophotography.
