Black fur is challenging. Especially in a bright and micro-contrasty environment as yours here. Here is my take with some explanations.
edit: attached the wrong sidecar - here is the correct one:

My first thought was, you spot metered the black dog what made the image too bright overall. But I see it is not too badly clipped.
The dog’s fur in most cases is not a real black, more like dark brown. So I left some brownish tint.

Used G’MIC’s dehaze to darken the pooch some and also enhanced the fur (gave it some sheen; might have pushed it a bit too hard). Ended up have to tone down the saturation of the background as well. ![]()
Using Christians’ fork but interestingly I didn’t use a tonemapper for this one…
FIrst one exported with HQR on and the second it was off… little different…
This is a straight standard edit for me in DT using my Canon R7 style as a starting point. Because the picture was over exposed I used the picker in the exposure module to correct the exposure. Then I used auto tune levels in AgX module. It looks like a black dog to me with just a few seconds of editing.

I think you forgot to show your edit.
Black dog deserves monochrome:
Never before 'till now, I used capture sharpening to put some more texture in the fur. And, the monochrome crush is all the blue channel, dunno, just looked nice to me. And, all that grass to my way of thinking is just distraction from a really nice-looking animal…
Majestic portrait!
