Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts, here comes the colour…
Again AgX even so, on this edit it doesn’t really matter.

I like how your edits are 90% of the time soo recognizable ![]()
Where is this sweet little dog gone?
What do you mean? ![]()

Hahaha, I love your edits Uli. I want to give this one a like, but I don’t like it. Is it one of those situations like strapping buttered toast to a cat, then dropping it from a height and seeing if it hovers?
Like @AtaraxicShrug, I also went for a James Popsys look by erasing the detail in the clouds and bringing more emphasis to the subject of the picture.
Darktable 5.1.0 with experimental AgX module:

This describes it quite well. I was just in the mood to do something extreme. And as I’m not a serial killer or US President, this was my way of living it out. ![]()
Can we arrange a meeting of these two ![]()
@AtaraxicShrug @europlatus I love James Popsys’ style of editing. When I started out with DarkTable replicating his style was one of the #1 thing I wanted to achieve. These days I’m chasing analog style & teal skies.
But for old time’s sake here’s my high key edit attempt in the style of Popsys

Use color equalizer to desaturate and darken greens (that’s his go to green treatment). Raise shadows but bring down blacks. Boost midtones and highlights (blow out skys just the right amount). Use contrast equalizer to reduce contrast with a mask targeting only midtones (that’s clarity in lightroom)
Interesting. When I had LR, I tried understanding what clarity was doing with a grey step gradient. For whatever reason I do not remember a decrease in mid-tone contrast. But its been a while, and I knew even less back then. I might have to go revisit that.
I dont have LR anymore, but I seem to recall seeing a utuber looking at various contrast slider effects on step grads. Maybe I can revisit that way. Cheers!
