Camera Profiling & Log like Profile creation

Hey guys !

I’m new here but I already went through a lot of posts and this forum is such a gold mine :0

I’m currently in the process of creating better profiles for my main camera (Sony a7IV). I’ve already made a general purpose dual illuminant profile shooting my own CC24 target and I’m quite happy with it.

But I recently discovered Cinelog and their project to bring linear raws from DSLRs closer to a film log state (I believe their curve is based on cineon). I tried it myself and used the curve from their profile in lumariver to create a DCP profile and the results are quite interesting in terms of dynamic range & color response in RAW converter softwares.

Now I’m curious and would like to try with an ARRI log-C3 curve to see if I could get somewhere close to an actual match from an ARRI Alexa final image with the help of a profile.

I believe the first thing to do would be to recreate the Log-C3 original curve and find a way to make it usable by Lumariver (rtc or json format) and then work on matching the colors from targets shot by both camera but I’m a bit lost with the tools & datas to use … How would you guys approach this project ?

ps : sorry if my english is a bit meh, I’m french eheh

Hey Claes

Merci !

I’m working on IOS (M1 max macbook pro) and I already own some softwares that might be useful for this project like Lumariver, Lattice, Davinci Studio etc.

I’m also open to command line tools like Dcamprof or anything else that could help me achieving my goal :+1:

Salut!

Ah, sorry. I am not a McPerson.
However, I believe that daVinci Resolve
would be an interesting way for you to go.
And if you are into RawTherapee,
take an extra look into the Abstract Profile
section, as well as Local Adjustments/Log profile.

Have fun!
