I was surprised how low I set the contrast in sigmoid here. I often go very high but not in this case.
The D750 did a good job on the dynamic range too.
Wow… you can just play with those flames forever!! I tried to get a little more detail back into the core of the fire and also bring that top tongue of flame in line with the rest of the fire color- and intensity-wise.
What I just noticed that’s interesting is on the preview in ART, the removal of the stray ember is pretty well hidden, particularly if you didn’t know it was there (screenshot of preview):
Here is my proposal after a long absence on the forum and the practice of photography, the construction of our new house took us more time than expected.
My favorite at this point might be @Popanz’s but I like them all tbh.
I like the painterly feel of @Thomas_Do’s version too.
I’m pleased you used the word analog, as I’ve been shooting a bit of colour negative film recently and that was the feel I was going for, not full on emulation, just glad it had that look.
