Campfire and sunset

I thought you might find this image interesting to have a go at…
I was surprised how low I set the contrast in sigmoid here. I often go very high but not in this case.
The D750 did a good job on the dynamic range too.

I prefer a darker rendition to frame the fire and preserve the flames.

ART 1.23

Wow… you can just play with those flames forever!! I tried to get a little more detail back into the core of the fire and also bring that top tongue of flame in line with the rest of the fire color- and intensity-wise.

What I just noticed that’s interesting is on the preview in ART, the removal of the stray ember is pretty well hidden, particularly if you didn’t know it was there (screenshot of preview):

But it sure shows up in the exported JPG:

@agriggio – Did I do something wrong?

Anyway, fun image to play with.

Thanks for the report, I’ll take a look

I think the way @Terry did is a very good idea. Raising the contrasts lets the fire burn more intensely.

I like the analog vibe of the initial edit, with nice colors in the sky!
So I tried a similar render:

Hello,

Here is my proposal after a long absence on the forum and the practice of photography, the construction of our new house took us more time than expected.

Thanks all! I like all the edits you’ve done.

My favorite at this point might be @Popanz’s but I like them all tbh.
I like the painterly feel of @Thomas_Do’s version too.

I’m pleased you used the word analog, as I’ve been shooting a bit of colour negative film recently and that was the feel I was going for, not full on emulation, just glad it had that look.
