I like this butterfly technically, but the photo is boring. How would you spice it up?

This works only partly for me. In my eyes you brought the flower more to shine than the butterfly.

You’re right, particularly on a small screen where the highest contrast takes all the attention.
No where near as good, and certainly not one edit… but good to try, thanks for sharing!
CIECAM colour seemed to help bring it to life best.

DT edit. Heavy crop. I am falling in love with the old school sharpen module as it tends to avoid sharpening noise better than the diffuse or sharpen module using the AA filter sharpening preset.

White balanced on the grey box in the background (and then added some yellow with global offset because it seemed good)
I actually reduced contrast a little in AgX, which I felt brought out the butterfly.
Tried not to crop too much, but still emphasize the butterfly with simple shape masks and some color lookup table adjustments.
Overall, I think the effect is overdone… but that is just after seeing everyone else’s awesome edits.
My take:
Cropped “rule of thirds”. Then I “darkenified” bottom and left to break the uniformity of the foliage. Plus just a little bit of: added contrast, saturation, sharpen.
