The cellphone really comes in handy when I need to disassemble something complicated.
What?!
That is a wonderful moment to capture. Thanks for sharing and caring, Dave.
Kind of looks like it was stuck in a plastic bottle. Wonder if it feels that way. ![]()
Thanks for helping this little fella
…wonderful takes
Here are a few autumn details. I’m trying to find more opportunities to take photos, so I just took my camera with me while walking the dog. Luckily, now that the sun sets earlier, the light gets better during our afternoon and early evening walks.
It is “Perthshire Open Studio” at the moment, so we went for a visit to Angus Ross workshop. He does some beautiful work, but I tend to apply the principle, “if it hasn’t got a price on, then you probably can’t afford it”.
Having said that, we hadn’t realised how much work goes into each piece, from design, to selection of the appropriate wood, to the actual construction.
Most of his work involves steam shaping the materials.
So, it’s the Pitlochry Highland Games today, something I have taken pictures of in the past. Given that it is always crowded, and that people are forever stepping in front of you to take a video on their phone of something that is happening 50+ metres way, I decided that I have enough pictures of people throwing heavy objects and that images of whole pipe bands are not that interesting.
So, here are a few pictures of individuals with engaging faces, or doing things that require an amount of skill:
I don’t know why, but a lot of the drummers seemed to be female, something that I hadn’t noticed in the past.
Edit: all of these images use the AgX tone mapper, editing loosely follows the recommended workflow outlined in the draft documentation
Another Edit: They also use capture sharpening, adjusting the contrast sensitivity to restrict sharpening to particular parts of the image.
Love these, some great expressions!
I especially like the first one.
That bird means business!
I just got my first wide-angle lens (Vitrox 13mm f1.4). This is a close-focus-wide-aperture test. I’m not so happy with the background at the top but couldn’t get a better composition with the wide angle.
@Thomas_Do and yes, I admit that I shamelessly copied that border style from you ![]()
Feel free to copy whatever you like
. But actually my frame style is different (the bottom frame is wider than the top one).
When you have a sudden downpour, its fun to see if you can capture the torrents. Its not that easy without having a contrasty background
