Looks like a wonderful setting!
It is. To the right the slope falls into a gorge about 800 feet deep, with the Los Pinos River running through it. So narrow, we had to split the group of photographers into three, and run the train by three times, room for no more than about 15 folks on the ledge alongside the track. One of those special places you can’t drive to, or even easily hike to.
Some quick edits at my friend’s house. Next week I will be heading to Edinburgh to finish this vacation. Yesterday we also hiked to the top of Ben Lomond, this was much easier than Ben Nevis, especially going up. Besides being hit by a cloud and extremely harsh icy rain, it was a great hike. Scotland is beautiful but very challenging to photograph and it makes me really want to get a standard zoom. There is no time to change lenses when hiking or on the go, and fixed focal length just won’t cut it for a lot of scenarios, maybe due to user skill ![]()
I think the bird is a snow bunting. It was on the summit of Ben Nevis, can’t wait to add this one to iNaturalist.
Thanks for sharing, those were a joy to look at. The snow bunting was a neat surprise inbetween
.
School yard. The wall was decorated by the kids during a ‘project week’. School yards are open here to the public; there were some kids playing there, it turned out they had also contributed, and were proud enough to show what they each did.
Some “forest-photography” of my own
. I always imagine these horsetails being giant trees for insects roaming among them.
We went to the open day of the fire brigade on the weekend. Apart from demonstrations and lots of activities for children, they also showed some old trucks from the 60s.
I also finally got vkdt to run, so this was a good opportunity to test hanatos’ implementation of spektrafilm (it’s awesome to be able to try different film/paper stocks and immediately see the result!).
Both are Portra 400 on Supra Endura paper.
I’m currently enjoying a bit of time off, and taking photos is a part of it. We are currently in a town called Fernie, in British Columbia. This is just a mobile edit for now… I think I’ll do the bulk of my editing when I return home. But for those embellished light rays… Can anyone recommend a method for that in darktable?
Super
I was there today, we went to the botanical garden in the morning and then stopped there for a rest and lunch (Meal deal from the co-op close by). It’s a nice park and has some cool wildlife, managed to photograph a coot and a grey heron. I think the geese and swans were nesting there too. I could’ve bagged some better pics I think but people started showing up and I don’t like to have the telephoto-ish(70-300) out around people with kids. Tomorrow I will return home thankfully. This visit was great but after two weeks I miss my bed and my cats ![]()
Hopefully you weren’t caught in the brief hail.
Love the composition and colours on the last one :-)!
