Color Eq & Mouse moved - Merged

Hello,

Thank you for trying it out.
Since this is a lab version, I took the liberty of customizing the UI. Personally, I prefer working with sliders, and the current design offers either just the graph or the graph plus the sliders.
I’ve kept the code with the darktable design in case anyone is interested in integrating it.

Fully alright that you customize the UI … no worries with this .
But in the today dowloaded build for ARM … I had not these options you show in your UI ?!
It was just the classical UI of DT with the graph .
Now as described above and in the GitHub issues raised .

Now it does look like this … :joy:

Don’t you have a drop-down menu in the “Options” tab to select the display?

I have been wanting something similar for a while and this fits it perfectly! Thank you.

I too much prefer using the sliders. One thing that has always bothered me about this module is that if you want to use the sliders, the Options menu moves to a separate tab instead of underneath. It feels less user-friendly to use the sliders than the graph, which means it’s not a “fair” choice.

Furthermore, “hue curve” is only available for the Hue adjustment, yet it’s shown as a permanent tool regardless of which tab you’re in. This feels like poor UI design. It should only be visible when working with Hue. (Even better, I wish it was available when adjusting saturation and brightness too.)

A PR that allows the graph to be hidden, the Options tab to always be underneath, and the hue curve slider to be hidden when not available, would be most welcome.

Hi Christian … something is wrong with your latest macos " arm" package .
DT will not start at all …
Do not get any notification … like a crash report .
The DT symbol down in the base panel is just endlessly jumping … but DT not opening
Just wanted to let you know .

Great idea. The scroll interface of Tone Eq was always one of my favorite things about it, having it here (and potentially other modules in the future) would be great.

It would be really nice if the scroll to move slider interaction could be distilled into a utility, so that any module that needs that function could implement it easily, and then it would always be consistent between modules with that feature.

Hello,

For your information, this project has been completed and the PR has been merged into the master branch. IOP Color EQ : Add interactive editing mode for color adjustments in image by Christian-Bouhon · Pull Request #21397 · darktable-org/darktable · GitHub

The basic idea has evolved significantly since the last update;

the slider is now the same as the one for the tone equalizer, and it has been consolidated into a new service.

I’d like to thank @Pascal_Obry , @hannoschwalm and @kofa for their testing during the PR request, as well as everyone who provided feedback while I was testing on my experimental branch.

Greetings from the Luberon,
Christian

@Christian-B thank you - it works wonderfully. Had to search a little, but it’s the same logic als tone equalizer and makes a lot of sense!
Congratulations!

Hello,

FYI, a minor bug has been fixed.

Since we now have access to a new service available for other modules, I’ve implemented it in “tone curve,” “rgb curve,” “color zones,” and in my experimental 3DCF module. And since these modules don’t have fixed nodes, I’ve used an icon to enable and disable it—see the screenshot. You can test it on my experimental branch, and if you’re happy with it, we can consider integrating it into darktable.

Greetings from the Luberon,
Christian

Hi Christian. This sounds like another great improvement that should be merged if there is not technical issues. keep these great ideas coming.
