Compact M43 camera to replace actual compact camera?

I think it makes sense.

Sure, a lot of people love to diss crop sensors, but I am under the impression that, somewhat paradoxically, the more experienced a photographer is, the more they recognize the rationale of crop sensors, fixed lens cameras, or (heaven forbid) fixed lens travel zooms.

It is mostly the inexperienced who imagine that they need the largest sensor and aperture to make good photos under all circumstances.

On a recent holiday, I was taking photos inside a traditional house, converted to an interactive exhibit (I did not post the photos because they have family members grinding wheat, making khubz, etc). In a dimly lit interior, I had a micro 4/3 camera with a 25mm f/1.7 lens and got great photos at ISO 800 with some motion blur that added to the image (it was intentional).

A man in who was in his seventies was sitting near me, also taking photos. He had rather large full frame MILC with a bright f/2.8 zoom, pretty soon we started talking cameras. I expressed envy for the light-gathering and blur he must be getting out of his camera, and the class-leading AF the model was known for (it was a Sony). He admired how light my gear was, because carrying a 2kg kit the whole day in the heat was getting tiresome. He just started photography after retirement, went into a shop and wanted to get “the best”, and that’s what the salesperson recommended.
