Even though I never use it, I can see that for some workflows it makes sense to be able to bulk rate images, so I would argue to retain the functionality.
I think the bottom is the visual option to mark a group of files at the same time with a common selection⌠That would not work if it got moved to the thumb unless some logic was introduced to work from there on a selection??
Absolutely. Iâm sure lots of people rate/colour ranges and/or multiple selections. Itâs an obvious way of working.
Some people like to minimise keyboard use
some people prefer a key press to a mouse click
Some people find ways to combine mouse+keyboard
Darktable accommodates us all.
I personally donât find the widgets at the bottom confusing. I do now realize they are missing from the darkroom view and it would be something I would like in the darkroom view, but I donât often rate images so it is not a big deal to me. My vote would be to leave these widgets as they are as I donât see it as an improvement to change them.
I assume the reason this widget is here is so that you can close the left hand panel and still have something to click. This could gain you an extra image or so per row.
I wouldnât classify the âexpand/collapse grouped imagesâ toggle (D) as a filtering option. When collapsed the other images are not filtered out but just grouped into one element (e.g. when adding a label, it will applied to all images of the group).
Hence, Iâd rather not move that into the filters panel.
Yes, I was a bit on the fence on this one.
Would you rather move it together with E, J and K in the view properties group?
Yes, I think there it would fit better.
