Darktable 3.4 crashes when importing

I have set DT running a recursive import from a folder with many sub-folders. Whilst this was in progress, under Collect Images, I tried to switch from ‘film roll’ to ‘camera’, thinking I could start to see the images from each camera as they were being loaded. At this point DT crashed.

I cannot now start DT at all - it crashes on startup. What’s the best way to recover from such a crash? I see there are library.db-snp and data.db-snp files. Should I just replace the existing library.db and data.db with the latest snp versions?

Except, I no longer seem to have a library.db file at all … maybe I should just start again!

This is on a MacBook Pro running Catalina and the folder being imported is on an external drive.

Thanks

Rename your ~/.config/darktable directory so it’s safe and you can check with a clean darktable config.
It‘s helpful to run darktable from terminal: /Applications/darktable.app/Contents/MacOS/darktable -d all to get an idea what happened just before it crashes. You might provide this and the crash report in an issue at: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/new?assignees=&labels=&template=bug_report.md&title=
