darktable 5.4 crashes every time at start

the problem accured as I changed the setting for multi workspace to on. Since then I couldn’t reopen the software anymore. Any idea what happens or how at least can change this setting back.
For now I switched back to 5.21 and everything works perfectly.
My system MacMini M4 with the latest 26.2 system
Help is much appreciated as I liked AGX for the short time I could test it. I am Austrian thus my English is meeh. Thus answer in English or German ist perfect. Thanks

You might start darktable from a terminal (open terminal and enter /Applications/darktable.app/Contents/MacOS/darktable) - do you see some error messages?

You can also turn multiple workspaces off again “manually”, by opening the file in (your-user)/.config/darktable/darktablerc-common with Textedit and change database/multiple_workspace=TRUE to FALSE.
The .config folder is hidden by default, unhide by “cmd + shift + .”

There is an issue, fixed in master. 5.4.1 should be out soon.

In the meantime if you use lua scripts, you can try renaming the luarc file in your darktable config directory to see if that fixes it.

If you have the splash screen disabled, you can try enabling it and see if that helps.

thanks. Renaming Luarc didnt help but the hint from Georg: changing darktablerc-common helped for now. I can start as usual.

Thanks a lot. editing the darktablerc-common to false repaired DT :+1::heart_eyes:. I looked into data.db and library.db but couldn’t find it there.

Glad that it helped. All the settings are in the rc files.

BTW, I was following you on flickr for a long time, I think we were both submitting photos to Ming Thein’s reader portfolio - great photos from you and nice to see that you are still active there :slight_smile:
