darktable: any fuel can import an image- right?

Except this old fuel; I know I’m actually having a bad few days, but, seriously, I am stumped by this:

In a folder containing 73 images, there is one I wish to import. I find I can import any 72, except the one I want, In Windows. I can select and request importation of that one specific image; dt tells me ‘0 images imported’.

This folder is on an old NAS drive which I have mapped to a local drive and can access freely with any other application. That includes accessing it with darktable in my Linux install, which can import this one specific image from that folder without issue.

Which geriatric hospital should I be attending?

Are you sure it isn’t already imported?

Yes, that was the first question I asked my self. I think I know how to search for an image by filename and I certainly know how to visually browse the contents of the film rolls. It’s a visually distinctive image with a name which contains part of the name originally assigned by the camera, so it is unique; I don’t see it, even when browsing from Windows File Explorer.

has it a file type supported by darktable? For example cr3 files aren’t visible in import dialog if darktable isn’t built with isobmff support…

It’s a RAF from X-T30 - been around since 2017 I guess; the other 72 files are from the same camera

OK; I’m assigning a closing reason code of “visitation by irrational vapors and unclean spirits”

I removed my mapped NAS drive; reset the dt db from yesterday’s backup, rebuilt the local drive mapping, restarted dt and this time no problem.

As I claimed, any fule can import an image - eventually.
