Hello all, I have just moved from MacOS to Windows. The device is a Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 10 with a 255HX and 5060, so it’s nothing to scoff at either. I bought this in the hopes of faster and better Darktable utilization and more RAM, for both my general uses and Darktable usage. Yet, whenever I want to add photos to the library, Darktable takes its sweet time (2 minutes) and then finally decides to access the external SSD (10 GB/s) to add the photos. And whenever the photos are being added, it’s around 4x slower than Mac (20 photos per second). Every drivers are updated as well. Do you know if I should just go back to Mac (Unix-based), or if this is solvable in Windows? I really like this device and want to keep it, but I will return it if this issue is not solved.
Hi and welcome! Is your speed problem on when photos are being added to the library? Or is it the whole experience?

Yes! But it freezes when I click the button of “Add to Library.” When photos are being added, it’s just slow
What type of connection between external and PC? What protocol? Have you tested the transfer rate?
Maybe a log from -d common can discover more details.
Thunderbolt. The transfer rate is fine.
How do I get that log?
Somehow cmd is unable to register Darktable as an application…
You likely need to move to the proper directory folder.
CD c:/program files/darktable/bin
