darktable runs slower after installing 5.0 [SOLVED]

I was using version 4.8 web release prior to installing the latest web release version 5.0. I uninstalled 4.8 using add/remove programs in control panel. darktable 5.0 is running much slower everywhere now.

I’m on win 10 22H2, i7-8700, 16GB memory, RTX 2060 w/6GB memory, 870 EVO Plus NVME M.2 for “C” drive and 1TB 860 EVO M.2 for data storage.

No changes where made to my settings either before, during or after the install.

cldevice_v5_nvidiacudanvidiageforcertx2060=0 250 0 16 16 128 0 0 0.000 0.000 0.250
cldevice_v5_nvidiacudanvidiageforcertx2060_building=-cl-fast-relaxed-math
cldevice_v5_nvidiacudanvidiageforcertx2060_id0=600
clplatform_nvidiacuda=true

It now takes about 5.0 seconds to do a +1.00 EV change after opening a nef raw in the darkroom. It was almost instantaneous before.

Otherwise the operating system is running just as speedy as always.

Any help in resolving my issue would be appreciated.

Without a logfile (darktable -d common) doing that EV edit, there is not much anyone could say.

I figured that a log file was needed. Can you please give me the full syntax that I can use with cmd?

Just for the sake of it - you may want to delete the caches for the old modules so DT can rebuild them.
For me they are under
~/.var/app/org.darktable.Darktable/cache/darktable/
then currently it is
cached_v5_kernels_for_NVIDIACUDANVIDIAGeForceRTX2070_5655701
(this is for a flatpak installation on linux - not sure for other os)

Even if it does not help - it is worth it to try because DT will rebuild them at start.

Thanks,

In windows it is C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache. I will delete and see what happens.

Result: No change!

I think you generated the log in the past.

Apparently it was the nef file that I was working on. I just tried other RAW files and performance is as before.

I should have done that earlier.

A logfile would still be helpful.

I believe in 5.0 on windows the log file goes in your documents folder.

Okay, here it is. .
darktable-log.txt (6.9 KB)

This has no processing information.

Disregard the log.

Yes, my mistake. .

The problem NEF file from a Z9 is not mine. I’m not at liberty to share anything about this problem file, so I will leave things as they are. My NEF’s are opening and processing as expected.

Still, thank you all for your help!
