DCP to ICC conversion temperature setting

I’m trying to use dcp2icc in order to convert DCP profiles for my camera to ICC in order to use them in Darktable. In the dcp2icc help it says that the recommended value for temperature is 5000. The DCP file stores settings for 2850 and 6500.

How does the temperature value affects the resulting ICC? Why 5000 was chosen as the default value?
