Design applications oriented hardware?

Not directly related, but now and then discussions about Linux user base arise, and this article maybe points to the time when Apple started to aim design users.
Beside that, it’s interesting as a tech museum piece.

Both computers were marketed towards professionals looking for a home or office-based workstation-class computer, ideal for scientific, business, and design applications.

Maybe the difference is that Apple’s OS was just a means to get the best out of its (good) hardware, and if buyers wanted, for instance, color management, then Apple would certainly address that.
