Perhaps another visualization of the camera raw gamut (not color space) helps, see e.g. half-way through this video. Camera raw gamut is a slightly odd looking volume with a shape that cannot be mathematically fitted to a tristimulus modelled color space which has a regular shape. You can just approximate it and choose what compromises you make during profiling.
