Different fonts in Darktable and GIMP?

The DejaVu Serif Condensed Italic font is available globally in my system (DejaVuSerifCondensed-Italic.ttf).
This font is available in darktable however I can’t make it visible in Gimp 2.10. I guess Gimp shows it as ‘Semi-Condensed’ but they don’t look alike.
I like the way darktable renders this font and I would like to have it exactly the same in GIMP but I am unable to achieve it. The Gimp version is like bold version of this font.

edit: font viewer renders this font the same way darktable does. So it is something with Gimp.
Any thoughts?

Hi @maf,

Seen this GIMP - Fonts in GIMP 2.X ?

The font is installed via apt so it’s system wide and shall be visible to all.

However Gimp 2.10 is from flatpak and that may be the root cause of the problem.

Yes, check the flatpak permissions. You should be able to grant the flatpak a lot of permissions, or copy the font into the ~/.var/ gimp directory.

@paperdigits maybe a silly question but how can I check flatpak permissions? Where? By ls or by some cli tool?
