Thank you. Since years digiKam is my favorite application for the management of a rather large photo collection.
Amongst other genres I am shooting birds in flight. I often return with 1’000 or more shots. Fast viewing and selection of the good shots is part of the workflow. Therefore, the new survey tool is much appreciated. I don’t know whether it’s on my side or a missing feature. With the survey tool I can’t use the short cuts for accepting or rejecting photos and the star rating. Which of course is slowing down the rating process substantially.
I’m using the Linux AppImage on Ubuntu 24.04.

Fixed in the next 9.1.0

Fix is included in the daily build.

Thank you. Much appreciated. I just came back from kingfisher ā€œhuntingā€ with 1’700 photos. I’ll try it today.

Thank you. I have just downloaded the daily build:

digiKam-9.1.0-20260319T070039-Qt6-x86-64.appimage

The short keys are still not working in the survey module.

Yes, I can reproduce it here under Windows; shortcuts aren’t working. Hmm, it definitely worked for me under Linux; I’ll take a look…

Thank you.

Before I started photographing kingfishers in flight, it would never have occurred to me to call 10 good photos out of 1,300 shots a success

Stupidly installing v9.0 on my Windows box has buggered up the database…

And even more stupidly, I did not have a backup.

Shame on me…

Does digiKam has any Demo website?

I think I saw one long time ago, but can’t find it now.

Not a demo, but the manual might give you an idea what digikam is about. Available in several languages.

Hi,
Still no demo, but there are some very detailed tutorials here.

Man,

This has been an unmitigated disaster.

I’m this close || to just deleting my database and starting from scratch.

To any early adopters, tread carefully.

Suggestion: Setup demo.digikam.org with a view images

I had a look at the manual. A bit like a Swiss army knife. So many tools that you can’t find the actual ā€˜knife’.

One question I couldn’t find in the docs: can several users use it?

I have my pix on a NAS (DigiKam is too fat to run on the NAS), so my idea is a Mini PC next to the NAS with access to the many pix folders.

But the pix folders are from several users. Can one DigiKam installation handle several users? I didn’t see anything about user management, personas or login in the docs.

(found it: create separate configuration files)
