Directional shortcuts should work with touchpad, right?

Thanks to a recent discussion on shortcuts I learnt about directional ones. However, they don’t work with my touchpad: defining a directional shortcut or using an already defined one (moving the mouse pointer or scrolling with the touchpad on my laptop) results in no action.

Interestingly though, built-in shortcuts (e.g., ctrl-scroll to zoom in lighttable view) do work with my touchpad.

So… I’m asking for confirmation that they are expected to work, correct?

Thanks,

Juan

Hi @juanito,

Just to clarify, shortcuts are always triggered by a key press. You cannot have shortcuts that use only mouse/trackpad movements.

That said, yes, they should work. If the predefined ones work, then probably you are not setting them up correctly.

Maybe the manual can help?

Thanks Daniele. I understand the manual and the process. (Thanks for contributing that part of the manual, BTW).

And it all works fine when I use a mouse. I have defined, for instance, “x, horizontal” to set agx/curve/contrast (which I could only define using the mouse, not the touchpad). When I press “x” and move the mouse horizontally, contrast changes as intended. But if I try to move the pointer with the touchpad, nothing happens (the pointer does not move either, until I release the x key).

Maybe there’s something wrong with my system, then.
