Edit Geolocation

I’m bamboozled.

I’ve downloaded my Google Map data, and using a couple of tools, created gpx files of my photo walks by day.

One of the tools is GPS Track Editor in which I clean up the mess that G.M. sometimes makes in order to have a nice “clean” path if you will.

I also get GPX Track Editor to increase the point density significantly to ensure success in matching to the photo times.

In digikam, highlighting a bunch of images, and then selecting Item->Edit Geolaction I’m brought to a menu with the photos I selected listed. Using the Load GPX files button, I read in the cleaned up file. It all looks good on the map. The times correlate accordingly. This is often a challenge, because I wasn’t always diligent about keeping the time in my cameras accurate. My bad…

About half the time, when I use the Correlate button, everything is neato.

A lesser amount of time, the photos are skewed timewise, meaning I have to adjust the offset. Not a huge deal.

And once in a while it just absolutely refuses to correlate, although it gives a message:

“All images have been correlated. You can now check their position on the map.”

I’ve tried adjusting the offset and have gone full circle, +12 hours to - 12 hours.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks

I use this feature regularly and it always correlated all my photos correctly. Sure you have to play with the settings, but thats no big deal.

If it doesnt work at all my guess would be either your gps track is corrupted or your photos have the wrong date, somehow this Happens sometimes.

I usually create my gps tracks with the recording tool of osmand. Set summer time or normal time in your camera and never change it. My camera always has cest. This way, in digicam geotag correlation i alway set utc +2.

I hardly ever edit my recorded gpx tracks.

Ok.

Thank you
