Editing PSD without Photoshop

You just reminded me my other project

IvanK.js - a javascirpt library for high-performance graphics inside a browser: http://lib.ivank.net . I made it in 2013 as closed-source, but open-sourced it a year later

I do see your point, but in this case the author has other free software projects and seems to understand the open vs closed issue.

I also understand he wants critiques and suggestions on improving his offering, and the #1 problem for me (and in the context of this forum) is that, while gratis (which is generous of him), it is not libre. For me, at least, the critique stops there, as that is a show stopping issue.

Also I’d say that having paid software does not disqualify it from being libre, especially in the web app case, where hosting and maintenance can be painful. Feedbin.me, WordPress.com, piwik hosted, and the elk logging stack are all examples of software that comes with a libre license but also offer hosted, paid accounts.

This is very nice Ivan. I saw your share of the software a few years back on Designer News, and lately I am seeing a lot of blogs reviewing it and commenting on it, which means it is good. I personally use this: http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/psd-file/ to edit my .psd files, but after seeing a lot of good reviews about your software being a solid .psd editor, I decided to install it on my office computer and give it a try. I will leave you an additional review, after I check it out

Thank you Ron  Photopea works in a browser, so it does not need instalation. Just like you don’t install Facebook or Wikipedia. I think that Paint Shop Pro can not save files to PSD format. Photopea can do it.
