EOS R8 in DT soon?

Hello friends,
Found this LibRaw issue that says that support for R8 is coming. Not stated when though.
I did quite a lot of manual builds and changes to get the EOS RP working in DT. Anyone who can shed some light if R8 is going to be supported in DT soon or do I risk to run a camera without the love of my life called DT if I buy one?

I haven’t tested it but it looks like the latest version of darktable supports the R8 (see here). A lot of camera review sites include sample Raw files so it should be easy enough to download one and try opening it with darktable. It’s usually the first thing I try when I’m thinking about buying a new camera.

That’s nice!
I have read comments that even though R8 files open it is with wrong profile and edits risk to not work in future versions.
Looks like it is fixed now?

It does not yet.

Just tried on the 4.6.x branch (which will become release 4.6.1) and I get a message saying the camera is not fully supported, but the raw file does open and looks ok. I’m not sure what’s left to support it fully though.

It does not have the correct input colour profile, as the warning message says.

One is free to use it as is though, at one’s own risk.

I suppose a color chart and the module Color calibration should be enough for the user?

And when R8 gets support everything needs to be redone again.

OK, so works sort of. Better hope I am not shooting too many photos coming months… :slightly_smiling_face:
