Part of my edit was trying to incorporate maximising the DorS radius span. I just thought of this reference, so please forgive if it’s been made before…
These go up to 2^11 !

This is a new concept to me. Could you please explain the advantage of doing this. Thanks.

Nice camera for bird photography since the large pixel count facilitates heavy cropping after the capture.

Adhered to the Ansel Adam’s approach to imagery (i.e, a photo is made; not taken).

@carstenmann great shot, thanks for sharing. Beautiful little guy!
@gwbarn great natural but lively look, I will have to check that DorS trick out.

Apart from the Spinal Tap reference, I found it reduced global contrast and softened edges at the same time. Then I masked out the bird to keep it clearer/more contrasty as the main focal point.
Negative speed should give a dehazing effect at that radius.

Thankyou! As always, it’s a matter of experimentation whether a picture is suited for such high values.

@Terry: Nice camera for bird photography

Yes, I am happy to use this camera for bird photography an other genres, like landscapes. I have read a book before and use specially camera settings before I go outdoors. Then it is easy.

Nice shot. Thanks for posting!

I thought it could withstand a fairly close crop and had a couple of different takes on the colouring. First one just bumped the saturation up on the relevant greens and reds. Second one added a split-toning using them as base colours.
