Exr files from Maya looking washed out after Natron output

Hi

I am rendering out of Maya exr files.
I import into Natron and all looks correct regarding colors etc BUT after rendering out of Natron everything looks washed out!

This has to do with color spaces i suppose?

Wich settings do i need to import and export correctly and have correct color display on rgb monitors?

Thank you

Try changing the “File Colorspace” in the write node, you probably want “sRGB”.

And the read node should be set to?

Thank you!

Which version of Maya? If it’s the latest one you will either have to set up an ACES compatible config with Natron (which has its benefits and drawbacks… Just like ACES) or set up ACES to write out with an output transform in your Maya render settings.

On those notes, Chris Brejon recently wrote an excellent breakdown of the various “most popular” OCIO configs. While likely aimed at a little more of an advanced audience I would really recommend reading that after his chapter 1 post on colour management. You’ll likely learn enough in there to fully understand why your problem is occurring and how to fix similar issues in the future!
