Feature request for area mask

Hi, Albert.
I would like to appreciate if there is “Subtract from other masks” button in Area Mask.

If I would like to make excluding area in Color Similarity Mask or Parametric Mask with Area Mask function, following steps are needed.

  1. Making Color Similarity Mask or Parametric Mask.
  2. In Area Mask dialog, making a rectangular area covering all the area in add mode.
  3. Making excluding area with rectangular or polygonal area in subtract mode.

But I think these steps are a little embarrassing.

If there is “Subtract from other masks” button in Area Mask, it is more straightforward and intuitive for users to make excluding area in other masks.

Thank you for your appreciation.

I think these steps or this process could be streamlined might go over better …

Don’t have an other way than your 3 steps. Just a small tip in case you didn’t know.

If you add an rectangular mask by clicking outside the photo, it automatically covers the whole image. So you don’t have to fiddle around with the mask handles to place it correctly. Step 2 is then a matter of 1 sec. Not that bad.

It’s actually even simpler than that. Just click on the small “+” icon on the side, by default you get a rectangle covering the whole image:
