I have downloaded version 4.0 and when I try to open it get the Schema Migration message. I click on upgrade and nothing happens.
What database is being upgraded as I have not had Darktable on my computer in the past?
If this is necessary how long does it take?
I am on mac OS Monterey version 12.5 with intel core i5
Have you granted darktable disk permission in the macOS security preferences?

I have now allowed darktable full disk access.
However I still get the Schema Migration message and clicking upgrade still does not appear to make anything happen.
I welcome any further suggestions.
You can remove ~/.config/darktable and try launching again.

I regret that my computer knowledge does not seem to cover finding where to do what you suggest.
I am not sure how to proceed.
On the finder top menus click on “Go” and select “go to folder”; in the windows that opens enter:
/Users/your home folder name/.config/darktable/ , and the press enter.
And you will see something like this picture
Just delete the “darktable folder” and start dt and see if it works.
I am on an iMac with Monterey 12.5.
