Just a beginner and the first tutorial indicates to create different folders for flats, biases etc. It doesn’t say if this is done within the program or outside on a desktop, or other computer folder. Can someone clarify?

it is on the filesystem, done with your operating system, so outside siril. It can be located wherever you like, preferably not on a rotating disk.
