Fun with prawnsushi

I think the top one is better. You can always adjust transparency yourself and more variance in shading means more flexibility and information.

Both are the same image, i just pressed “the K key” to change the background
I suppose some backgrounds can hide some details sometimes.

These things now live in G’Mic > Testing > Prawnsushi > 3d Abstract

Another one. Used also “Tune HSV Colors” here and blended chaiNNer result with GIMP result:

Wow there’s an ominous presence in this last one…

Here are a few of mine i saved during the making of the filter :

Added 2 options to Sloppy Mess the other day :

  • Apply (rotations) to channels
  • Deform scale

So you can now turn images into a more complete mess

Not quite a sloppy mess. Organized chaos? Frosted glass? Or, AKA a censoring tool.

:person_shrugging:

What i like about G’Mic is that you can totally create “new filters” just by using “specific settings” in an already existing filter to get unexpected results :

original ( seamless chaotic pattern):

Now guess which filter is this?:

I’m tempted to “fork” this… but i don’t think i can understand the code. That would also be like… cheating :frowning:

Time to share it.

There’s nothing to share though. It’s just stringify with some specific settings that doesn’t make it look like strings. Or like a lot of opaque strings which create shapes.
There’s probably an easier way to do this though. Looks cool anyway.

David made stringify, so it might be interesting if he can look into it to adapt the filter for making it more like non-string in more cases.

What I like about G’MIC is that the filter codes are available to everyone (and often relatively short), so that it encourages the study of existing filters, copying, modifying and experimenting. A kind of small open-source world for image filters

I often learn things by watching how others have programmed their filters.
I can only encourage you to tinker with and modify other people’s source code to have fun and possibly create some interesting new filters!

Well, this could make another cutout-like filter. It’s just a bit slow for that (have to use “all points” so the lines create shapes instead of strings).

Here’s the results of a basic mod with 140 levels and small quads instead of lines (2 points):

I’m no expert so it’s basically just guess work.
I guess my 1st idea is to replace the lines by larger quads so it needs less lines to fill space. Something like that.

Unknown painting by Pablo Picasso.
Anyone interested in buying?

Unfortunately, the donations for G’MIC have been discontinued. I’m currently trying to make it available again, but there are some administrative obstacles I have to deal with.

Alas, i’m neither rich nor a dev :frowning:
Just a passer-by.
