Generate HTML Photo Galleries with digiKam

There are so many clever ways to share photos on the Web that the idea of creating a static HTML photo gallery may sound positively obsolete. But in certain situations, the ability to turn a bunch of photos into an HTML gallery can come in rather handy. For starters, serving a bunch of static HTML pages is less complicated than setting up a dedicated photo sharing solution, which can be useful if you want to host a photo gallery on your own server.

Deeply unfashionable, I know, but I do like to put HTML galleries on my personal website.

There are several decent options, but its a bit more complicated to include the DigiKam tags as labels on the photos.

I scanned through the digiKam tools and export modules but couldnt see any that were modifiable to include tags - does anyone know how I can do this?

I am new to Digikam and it is good for creating metadata. But it is not easy to customise what metadata is output/exported. I just want to export (html gallery or anything) a thumbnail on left and selected metadata on right e.g. image ref, caption, people, and keywords. The ‘details’ is good and very close but it will be really difficult (for me) to edit the xml files.
