Hi everyone, I just discovered the geotagging feature in Darktable. Now I shoot with a Fuji XT-4 with RAW+JPG. When I import these images in Darktable and apply a GPX track it creates the .xmp
sidecar files. For the RAW images that makes sense to me, but for the JPGs it does not. The new meta data from the GPX track is only in the xmp files, not in the actual images. How do I get this meta data in the JPGs? I know that when I edit the RAWs and export them as JPGs they actually do get the geotagging information
You can export the image, otherwise you can’t in darktable. DT is non destructive.
You can put that info in there with exiftool.

Do you by chance have a way to do that? I am new to exiftool and have no idea how to use it…
You can see the docs here: Geotagging with ExifTool

An alternative would be to do it with digiKam. You can set it up so it writes to JPEGs directly and to sidecars for raw files.
