GIMP 2.10.28 + GMIC 3.0.0_pre : Problems with updating filters ?

Hi everyone,

Since a few days, when I open the G’MIC plug-in (3.0.0_pre) on GIMP (2.10.28) / Windows, I get this error message :

update_error

On the contrary, when I use gmic.exe (the cli interface) on a MSYS2 shell (again, on Windows), the

$ gmic update

just works as expected.

I don’t get it. Do you get the same kind of issues with the latest 3.0.0_pre version of G’MIC ?
Or is this just me ?

Well I just installed a fresh Windows 10 VM + Gimp 2.10.28 with g’mic 3.0.0_pre#211207, refresh said “download was not required”. I then deleted the update300 file manually and did a refresh, it downloaded it again. Now each time I press refresh it says “Filter definitions have been updated”.

So overall, it looks OK for me in a windows VM.

P.S. thanks for the hirsute build :smiley: I was getting by with cli only

G’MIC 3.0.0_pre 20211128 64bit Win pour GIMP-2.99.9

Hi David, since some time I get the following message downloading the (rel. old) gmic pdf references file. Perhaps it has something to do with your error. I think your server has been changed!

$ wget -q -O ${HOME}/Desktop/gmic_reference.pdf https://gmic.eu/reference/gmic_reference.pdf
SSL_INIT

Still the pdf file is downloaded!

With gimp update is ok on mac!

Hi David,
I’m using Windows 10 64 bit
GIMP 2.10.28
G’MIC 3.0.0_pre#211005
Haven’t had any problems with G’MIC until tonight and it’s kind off glitchy and crashed once.
But no error messages.
Updating it, it seems to do the roving bar at the bottom and says it’s updated.
