Nikon D810 - darktable

Great photos. If I may offer a bit of criticism, I personally feel that the darkening of the left side background in the first photo is a little too strong.
Do you still prefer an DSLR camera?

Yes, I do. I own and use two D810 bodies, the holy trinity of f/2.8 zooms and three primes (35, 50, 85).

My motives don’t really need a very fast camera; they don’t run away, don’t try to flee, so whatever burst rate the Z8 or Z9 can offer, I don’t give a … flying flamingo. Changing my kit to mirrorless (say two Z8 bodies and the same lenses) would cost me close to 20’000 Euro - without any real benefit for my photography. And honestly: if I needed to change, I would most likely switch to Hasselblad X2D ii bodies and the corresponding lenses.

You are right with the darkening in the first photo. It is MUCH more pronounced here on pixls.us than on my flickr stream or in dt on my screen. Same is true for the overall brightness of the second shot.

Thanks for your personal insights on DSLRs vs. mirrorless cameras. I can definitely relate to that. Yes, your subjects are trusting; I also do a lot of wildlife photography, where things look a bit different.

Some nice work here, @beachbum. I like how your subjects never seem to sit center of the frame, and your black and white is so smooth.

Everyone else: yes. I deleted all the rest of the comments. Let’s try and stay on topic and be nice?
