GitHub, Microsoft, GitLab and Bill

As GitHub is experiencing issues today, I wanted to take the opportunity to throw these links out for your enjoyment:

I’ve been wanting to migrate the pixls GH stuff to GitLab, but just haven’t had time to do it (as always). Seems odd to host on a non-free platform.

I can take care of that if you’d like!

strictly speaking … the gitlab enterprise version that is used for their hosted solution, is not free either.

see also the discussion about commons-clause and SSPL (mongodb) about this.

100% true. I’m just waiting for you to set up the CE version to host all of the Free Software photo nerds here…

Bill Gates sends mails, Steve Ballmer throws armchairs. Each time I see BG in the news he looks so calm and smiling that he must be secretly using Linux.

You made my day. Thanks! :joy:

I don’t see a point migrating to a non-free GitLab either. I would stay on GitHub until M$ started doing something funky.

I think gitlab just has better tooling at this point than github. I like their issue tracker a lot more.

It’s also hosted on Azure as well, so …

you are a bit behind on that … https://about.gitlab.com/2018/10/11/gitlab-com-stability-post-gcp-migration/
