(this messages has also been posted on the Paint.Net forum).
Following the release of version 3.7.1 of G’MIC, I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to Nicholas (@PDN_GMIC ) for his responsiveness in updating the plug-in versions for Paint.Net and 8Bf (Photoshop, Affinity, etc.). It’s remarkable. And it’s been going on for years!
And it’s not for lack of releasing new versions of G’MIC very frequently! He is always on the ball to compile the new binaries and make them available to you as quickly as possible. That’s really amazing.
I don’t really know how else to thank you, Nicholas, but thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart !

Someone made a nice video about the G’MIC-Qt plug-in for Affinity, @PDN_GMIC !
That is one of the few such videos that doesn’t have Mac users whining in the comments about the plugin being Windows-only. The only Mac comment I saw was someone who said that the 8bf plugin would have to be ported to work on Mac, which is correct.
I expect that porting the plugin would require being familiar with both Apple’s platform-of-the-week and any quirks of Adobe’s APIs on Mac, which probably isn’t a very large pool of people within the Mac open source community. The plugin’s OS specific code should be fairly well isolated, but it still would be a fair amount work to re-implement on another platform.
Based on what I have heard from other Photoshop filter/effect plugin developers, that appears to be a shrinking market.
