GMIC Inpaint [Multi-Scale] in Elementary OS is not working

Hi all,

I’m running on elementary OS 5.1.3 Hera. Built on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS.

GIMP 2.10.14

I installed GIMP from

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp

Then I installed GMIC from

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmic gimp-gmic

I can see the G’MIC-Qt plugin in GIMP, but when I run the Inpaint [Multi-Scale] plugin, it does nothing

Plugin Showing Up

Image before and after plugin stays the same

I ran gimp from Terminal, and here is the output, maybe it can give some clue

brian@brian-machine:~/Downloads$ gimp

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if you need anything. Thanks

Do you have python2 installed?

Yes I do. Here’s when I type on Terminal

brian@brian-machine:~/Downloads$ python2
Python 2.7.17 (default, Nov 7 2019, 10:07:09)
[GCC 7.4.0] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

Actually now it’s working… When tried to color the selection with red, and the mask color (in the QMIC dialog) as red it’s working. Then I tried again fill the selection with the previous pink color and set the mask as pink, it’s working!

I’m really not sure why this is happening, and how to solve it… If someone turns out to have this issue, try to use the default color first, which is red, then you can change with other color. I know it doesn’t make sense. But maybe you can try…

Thanks for trying to help @paperdigits

Remember to click on the update button to update the filters. You need the latest version to update to the most up-to-date filters (incl. bug fixes). Latest G’MIC version is 2.9.0.

Interesting how there is an extra _qt.
