I am just getting started with DigiKam, so it might be that this has been answered and I haven’t been able to find it because I’m not aware of the proper words to search for.
I am importing a lot of photos in a variety of formats such as Jpeg, Heic, and PNG. For JPEG and PNG after I tag a person I can go to the search bar in windows and type in People: Someone’s name and it will display all the photos tagged for that person.
However, it doesn’t show any tags for HEIC files. I’ve seen some mentions of XMP sidecars (a subject I’ve yet to figure anything about really ), but am trying to avoid that to keep this as simple as possible.
My question is, is there a setting in DigiKam to have it tag HEIC photos a certain way so it can be searched from windows, is this a windows failure and I need to install a certain tool to enable its built-in search function to reach the metadata tags in heic files, or would it be better to convert my heic photos to a different format, such as png?
