Hey all, I wonder if I could get your help with something. I’m still relatively new to DT, so trying to understand how things work is a little tricky.
As you can see in this Black and White image, the windows are a really nice lighter white colour. I wanted to match the light fitting on the right to the window but, no matter what I do, I can’t lighten it from grey to a whiter colour.
I’ve tried an exposure mask AND a tone equalizer mask, but nothing changes it.
Nice photo! Very “liminal” - love the compositon !
Your issue stems from the exposure modules after AgX. Specifically the exposure module “vignetting”. It pushes the brightness down after AgX similarily to what would happen if you applied negative slope within AgX.
Traditionally exposure belongs in its place in the beginning of the pipeline. But even just putting that specific module before AgX solves your problem.
Also you are doing a lot of work on colours and saturation only to apply the bw conversion in the end. It might be simpler to delegate the bw conversion to colour calibration and then move on from there? At least thats the way I usually do it.
You dimmed it down by yourself, with a vignette over the exposure module. MAke a mask which excludes the highlights and it works. II changed it for you in your edit:
