Last Sunday I was walking at the local Uemminger See in Bochum and saw this heron. Here is my edit with dt 4.8.1.

Thanks for the play. I am unhappy with the bird because it doesn’t pop in my edit. I wanted to reframe the shot which I did to ignore any rule of thirds and focus on the composition from the point of view of the edges and corners of the frame. I really need to improve the bird in my edit.
Here is another attempt where I have created a second instance of exposure and used a drawn mask to select and brighten the bird a little. Yes, only a small change but now I am happier.

the colours are amazing and the heron is beautiful. I had problems to accentuate the bird within the colourful backround. anyway it was fun to try a quick edit…

Second attempt with a portrait crop. I tried to compensate for the blue tinge in the shaded areas of the heron.
I don’t remember the plumage of these birds being as aggressive as some of the editions I’ve seen, but I may be wrong. This heron is “bathed” in a golden light and its grey plumage must have some of those sun reflections. But the shadow part should respect the tone of this bird. It is cut out following the golden spiral.
