history stack mode

I currently use DT 5.3.0 684
In the history stack utility module I don’t see anymore the mode: append/overwrite.
It was moved?

Yes, it’s in the ‘paste’ dialogue now.

“Paste” has no dialogue. You mean in the dialogue “selective paste”?

That means:

  • “paste” works only in append mode
  • “selective paste” in append or overwrite

Can you confirm? It is somehow confusing for me right now.

Right, that’s exactly that.

If you are using the master branch, then look at the closed PR in GitHub Insights. You can then keep track of changes and their rational.

The change goes back to a discussion on an issue I posted

Thanks for info. Actually the overwrite mode was my default way of pasting the history stack. I must find a workaround now.
So, if I want “paste” to overwrite the stack I should first “discard history” of the target and do “paste”. Is this correct?

paste and then compress history stack might also be a workaround

Hopefully I am not hijacking the thread, but I have been getting a lot of crashes in the last week. I am struggling to pin down the problem, but there does seem to be a connection to the changes to cut/paste.

It looks like cut and paste in darkroom mode causes my crashes when trying to paste onto multiple images in overwrite mode. Selective pasting works fine in append or overwrite, This seems to be mostly repeatable.

Does anyone else see this behaviour?

Looking at the debugger, maybe there is some problem redrawing the thumbnails?

I’m wondering why you preferred that.

Have you reported the issue on GitHub?

LIke I say I’m still trying to pin down the cause of the crashes, so I am not yet sure I have good info to report on GitHub - it may just be my system not DT.

For example another “glitch” that just appeared is that printing multiple images with CTRL+e in Darkroom, sometimes/often results in the first and last images having todays date rather than creation date . . .

Maybe thats connected, not sure.

I experienced the same and reported the bug a couple of days ago, Turbogit got on it right away and at least to me the bug seems fixed in yesterdays nightly.

I just rebuilt with 5.3.0 + 688 and the bug is still there.

I added some info to the git entry for this bug.

Or use the paste-part as you have the overwrite mode in the dialog.

Sure since it has been fixed after you need at least release-5.3.0-699-g2c9329c118.
