How can I add an outline colour to some text?

For a title slide for a presentation talk, I want to overlay a photograph with a title in black, outlined in yellow (better, a particular shade of yellow present in the photo).

I found these these instructions but couldn’t get the bucket tool to do anything, so I’m stuck.

You can do the text in inkscape very easily and export a PNG.

If you use ImageMagick:

If you know the exact shade of yellow, eg #fe1, you can use that instead.

That’s almost perfect for what I want. The only improvement is that I want the text further north in the image. How can I achieve that?

I worked it out - the -annotate argument does this.

Yes, instead of “0” in the annotate, you could have “+10-50”, which would move the text 10 pixels to the right and 50 pixels up. Or “+0-50” for just moving north.
