How can I get the sky a dark blue?

Hi,

I am trying to get the sky in this infrared image a dark blue but whatever I do it stays greenish. I think “Color zones/Hue” should be the right module but somehow it’s just not enough.

On the bright side: I love that darktable makes color swapping so easy. One less reason to go to a pixel editor like Affinity or gimp.

Use the Color Balance RGB module with a parametric mask to isolate the teal color from the orange. Then use the Hue Shift slider to move the teal back to blue. You can then use the highlights slider to darken the sky.

I made a test with the .jpg using only two modules, Color calibration and Color balance RGB
This is the result.

In color calibration go to brightness tab and reduce blue slider. You may or may not need to check normalise box. Then either:

a) To make the green more blue, go to B tab and push G slider towards blue (increase). This will have the side effect of a blue cast. To negate the cast, reduce R slider by equal amount (which will also make reds a little more orange). Or,

b) To make the green more blue, go to R tab and push G slider towards cyan (decrease). This will have the side effect of a cyan cast. To negate the cast, increase R slider by equal amount (which will also increase saturation in reds).

Can’t test atm, hence why I’m typing instead of providing a sidecar.

If you go to “color balance rgb” and add a hue shift of ~ 36° the sky becomes blue. However, if you do not mask the sky, the plants will get yellow.
