How do you keep track of your prints and print-ready files?

Lately I’ve been making more of an effort to print my work and put it in a nice album.

Having access to many nice printers is proving to be a bit of a problem as I prep specific files for specific printers. Sometimes files for one printer don’t look good on another.

Are you tracking such things? If so, how?

The ones I do will usually just contain the intended printer + paper combo in the filename (usually the printer will simply be a name of the print shop being used). So,

If it’s a working file, I normally just make sure to revisit the profile + soft-proofing again before exporting a new copy.

I’m not too far off then. I’ve been contemplating just using an emacs org file to track it all and any notes I may have.

I agree with paperdigits; if needed just an ordinary flat (text) file is sufficient for my needs. Then use grep to find what you are after.
