How to achieve this "pinkish" color?

I configured my camera to save both JPG and raw. For one of the photo I took, the camera JPG output is top half of the image. While the raw output from RawTherapee (for now I used neutral setting to reset all) is lower half of the image

So the camera’s post processing looks more pinkish, I kind of like it. I tried in RT but I have no way to mimic the color. The raw file could be downloaded here https://copy.com/JIfQ6NZlaCiiBXK7

It is much appreciated If anybody could point out some direction!

The White Balance tool provides a couple of possibilities. Either move the Tint slider toward the magenta end or move the Blue/Red Equalizer slider toward the red end. The Channel Mixer is another option. Try increasing the Red channel red to 120 from 100, and nudging the other Red channel sliders (green and blue) up a bit to intensify the red tones. Beyond these, you could experiment with the HSV Equalizer, RGB Curves, and perhaps the CH curve available in the Lab* Equalizer tool on the Exposure tab.

Basically everything @tbransco said. :slightly_smiling:

I did download the image and used the default profile + fiddled with the tinting in the WB (nothing else):

Thanks for the help.

Lots of the time if I need certain color I have little clue what to do. I can try individual white balance change or one color channel change. But once I need to mix them, it is just like I am finding a needle in haystack - try various combinations to see if any of them happen to be what I need.

I just could not find a good tutorial how to manipulate colors in general.

Have you seen/read these already?

They might help to give you a feel for how colors will work (RGB at least) together a little bit. Further questions we can do our best to help you with here!

Good articles, I will read them!

The biggest problem I feel about RawPedia is that the help is very dull and difficult to understand. If it could include some real world example to explain why it is done by using certain feature, what are the typical use cases, it will be much better,

Lightroom has tons of books, videos to explain everything in details. RawTherapee is lack of such luxury.

This is because these projects are all volunteer-driven. Lack of books/videos/etc. is because nobody has stepped up to produce this content. It’s something we are trying to alleviate and rectify through the existence of this site!

You are absolutely welcome to start writing or producing video content! If you can’t or don’t want to - you can also donate to those that will.
